Interoperability with CadnaA and CadnaR

Overview of the Interoperability of CadnaB with CadnaA and CadnaR

Interoperability enables the seamless integration of CadnaA for noise outdoors, CadnaB for building acoustics, and CadnaR for indoor acoustics into a continuous workflow. This creates numerous application scenarios – from analyzing sound transmission between rooms to calculating noise propagation from indoors to outdoors and vice versa. Numerous features and automations support the integration of the different acoustic disciplines:

  • Seamless interaction between CadnaR, CadnaB, and CadnaA to integrate indoor acoustics, building acoustics, and noise outdoors for comprehensive acoustic analyses.

  • Use of appropriate calculation methods tailored to the specific acoustic domain.

  • Automatic subdivision of partition surfaces into individual surface elements with separate calculations to identify acoustic weak points.

  • Supports cross-disciplinary acoustic applications for a variety of use cases.

  • Easy synchronization of geometry data and sound levels between CadnaB and CadnaA for the calculation and visualization of sound levels.

  • Management and organization of CadnaR projects directly within CadnaB.

  • Room-to-room calculation with automatic integration of building and indoor acoustics data for detailed determination of sound transmission through partition elements – considering obstacles as well as the positions of sound sources and receivers in the indoor acoustic models.

  • Step-by-step guides and demo tutorials support the practical implementation of interoperability between the software systems for various application scenarios.

Starting from any exterior scenario with sources such as roads, railways or industry, CadnaA calculates the noise levels at the front of the facades of the CadnaB building object. CadnaB building is the link between both programs and can be also a source when the calculation goes from indoors to outdoors.
The noise levels calculated at the facades in CadnaA are automatically synced in CadnaB. Then, CadnaB determines the transmission through the wall based on building acoustic properties including selected constructions, doors or windows.
CadnaR is used to calculate the level at the receiving room considering the real position of sources, receivers and obstacles. The transmission through the wall is calculated based on the building acoustic properties defined in CadnaB.
