Building Noise Maps

When calculating noise levels in front of facades the receiver points are distributed evenly at all floors along the whole perimeter line. CadnaA excludes automatically parts of the facade with only incremental distance from another facade. The user can define how the building noise level is calculated from all these facade levels (arithmetic or energetic average, maximum or minimum of all levels).

With the simple 3D wire presentation the calculation points on the facades are shown. With the 3D-Special presentation the facades are coloured related to the calculated noise levels and using the palette chosen or created by the user. The facades are even coloured if a walk or a flight through the scenario along a road or a drawn polygon line is presented.

The building noise map feature in CadnaA enables the user to fulfil the requirements of the EU Environmental Noise Directive. The facade levels are calculated in this case in a distance of 2 m from these facades. After having determined the highest and the lowest level for all buildings it is possible with a single command to sum up the number of inhabitants of all the buildings where the level at the noisiest facade is in one of the defined level intervals. These distributions can be calculated in one sweep for whole cities.
