The Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) published the results of Swiss national noise mapping and analysis. The sonBASE noise monitoring system developed by the FOEN over three years provides scientifically based, nationwide conclusions for the first time on the extent of current noise pollution in Switzerland. Heart of the sonBase system is a homogeneous Geographical Information System (GIS), based on ESRI ArcGIS, Oracle database and CadnaA for noise calculation. Comprehensive noise mapping across the whole of Switzerland and for the principle noise sources - road, rail and air traffic - was computed and statistically analysed. With a mapped area of more than 41,000 km² and covering over 75,000 km of roads, 3,000 km of railways and 70 aerodromes, the noise database Switzerland is the largest noise mapping project worldwide. more

DataKustik has delivered officially to CONAMA (Comisión Nacional del Medio Ambiente ) a CadnaA XL noise mapping package that will be used to develop the noise maps of Santiago de Chile and several other cities in the country. CadnaA has been chosen by CONAMA after an independent evaluation of the main simulation software on the market by a consultancy. CadnaA has been selected for its power and ease-of-use as the standard tool for urban planning. The software was handed over by Dr. Wolfgang Probst (Managing Director, DataKustik) to Mr. Gonzalo León Silva (Director, CONAMA) and Mr. Roberto Quezada (Head of Noise Unit, CONAMA). The deal was closed during a two-week CadnaA roadshow in South America with seminars on environmental noise in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia, that was organized jointly by DataKustik and its strategic distributor 01dB-Metravib.

Within the scope of the implementation of the EC Directive on environmental noise, the strategic noise maps for all of Austria were calculated with CadnaA. The project carried out by ACCON GmbH (Acoustical Consultants) covered all major roads and railroad lines within Austria. Noise maps and all relevant statistics according to the EC Directive were produced for 2100 km of roads, 550 km of railroads, and a total area of more than 8000 km². more

Within a research project lead-managed by the University of British Colombia (UBC), School of Environmental Health, noise maps of Metro Vancouver, Canada, are being produced at the moment. Mapping of the region will be the first noise mapping project of this scale in North America. CadnaA, the worldwide leading noise mapping software, is used for calculation. more

The noise map of Bristol (UK), calculated with CadnaA, is now published online. Besides an interactive noise map and .pdf files for download the Bristol noise map is also available directly within GoogleEarth. Since version 3.7 CadnaA includes a powerful GoogleEarth import/export interface. Noise mapping of the City of Bristol is being done as part of the EU funded SILENCE project.

Copacabana is one of the most famous neighborhoods of the city of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) but suffers from noise pollution. In order to assess not only the noise levels, to which the population is exposed, but also to quantify the influence of architectonical aspects, a simulation of the noise emissions and propagation in this area was carried out using our leading noise mapping software CadnaA.

Within the implementation of the EC Directive on environmental noise the strategic noise maps of Cyprus were calculated with CadnaA. Colored noise maps were provided by ACCON GmbH (Acoustical Consultants) for main roads as well as for the cities of Nicosia, Larnaca, Paphos and Limassol. Evaluation of exposure of inhabitants was also part of the project as reporting and information of the public according to 2002/49/EC. Further on different scenarios of noise abatement procedures for the named cities will be analyzed. CadnaA is the leading noise mapping software. All steps for implementation of the EC Directive can be handled very convenient with CadnaA.
